Ed Barguiarena
Creative Director
Ed Barguiarena is a composer, musician, arranger, producer, writer, educator, curator, designer, big thinker, dreamer, optimist, artist, husband, and parent. He creates music for film, theater, modern dance, songs, interactive art installations, or anything needing music or sound.
Since 2006 he has served as the consulting Music Director of Active Arts at The Music Center of Los Angeles County, designing unique hands-on music events for non-professional musicians, exploring a wide range of musical styles including: Zydeco, Son Jarocho, Americana, Indonesian Gamelan, Blues, Jazz, Afro-Cuban, Hawaiian.
He has given presentations about music, composing, songwriting, and education for many well-known institutions including: The Kennedy Center, Duke Ellington School of the Arts, Percussive Arts Society International Convention, The James Irvine Foundation, Museum of Contemporary Art, USC, University of Miami, and UCLA. In addition, he has designed and hosted a handful of engaging and interactive orchestral concerts for the Los Angeles Philharmonic at Walt Disney Concert Hall.
Ed leads a busy life in the foothills of Altadena, California with his wife and two sons, Luca and Julian. Ed is constantly curious about the nature of creativity and the pursuit of excellence. He loves to travel. Destinations include: 46 out of 50 U.S. states, The Netherlands, Spain, France, Italy, Botswana, South Africa, and El Salvador. His favorite city is Barcelona.
